Jean-Pierre Michelou received his B.A. in electronic music and audio engineering from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and received master's degrees in jazz studies and trumpet performance at USC. He is frequently in demand as a performer, lecturer and clinician, and his performance credits include the Pacific Symphony, and programs with Jose Carreras, Andy Williams, Martina Arroya, Natalie Cole and Helen Reddy. In 1964 Bobby Shew became a member of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. After his stint with Dorsey, Bobby was asked to play with Woody Herman's band upon Bill Chase's recommendation, after which he spent some time playing for Della Reese and Buddy Rich. Bobby was widely known for his strong lead playing; in 1972 he decided to make a move to the Los Angeles area in order to get reinvolved in developing as a jazz player. Andy has been a professional trumpet player for almost 30 years. He has performed with Arturo Sandoval and his Hot House Big Band, The Temptations, Frankie Valle and The Four Seasons, The Four Tops, Dianne Schurr, Nancy Sinatra, Electric Light Orchestra, and many others. He has been playing with the cooking Art Abrams and The Swing Machine Big Band for 10 years, and with Portland's hot salsa band, Conjunto Alegre, for 18 years.

His former brother-in-law is long-time Tower of Power trumpet master, Mic Gillette, and Andy grew up around the Tower of Power horn section. Mic was Andy’s first trumpet teacher.

Manny Klein (1908-1994) was a jazz trumpeter most associated with swing. He began with Paul Whiteman in 1928 and was active throughout the 1930s playing with several major bands of the era including the Dorseys and Benny Goodman. In 1937 he moved to California and worked with Frank Trumbauer's orchestra, and in early 1940 he appears on Artie Shaw And His Orchestra recordings. He also did soundtracks and played trumpet for the film From Here to Eternity, but was uncredited. He worked with musicians associated with "West Coast jazz" in the 1950s. During the early 60s he appeared on several Dean Martin recordings. He played piccolo trumpet on Hugo Montenegro's hit version of the main theme to the 1966 film, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Klein was regarded as one of the most proficient trumpet players of his, or any generation. In addition to being a brilliant technician, Klein possessed an uncanny ability to mimic the styles of many other prominent trumpeters, namely Bunny Berigan and Ziggy Elman.

Rick Braun (1955-) is a smooth jazz trumpet player. Before embarking on a solo career, Braun got his start by playing in several bands, including guitarist Jeff Golub's Avenue Blue. He also collaborated with saxophonist Boney James on a remake of the Hugh Masekela's "Grazin' in the Grass." In addition to his solo career, Braun plays in the band BWB, with saxophonist Kirk Whalum and guitarist Norman Brown. In 2005, he and saxophonist Richard Elliot co-founded ARTizen Music Group.

After graduating, he worked his way west playing the jazz chair in the Tommy Dorsey Band. Bob finally settled in Los Angeles. He is a prolific performer in film soundtracks; to his credit is the solo playing in Lush Life and The Majestic, among hundreds of other films and television shows. He has performed in the bands of Doc Severinsen, Tommy Dorsey, and Glenn Miller, and with solo artists through a wide range of genres from Tony Bennett and Sarah Vaughn to Rick Springfield and Julio Iglesias.

While at Eastman, Tyzik met Rochesterian Chuck Mangione, who was teaching at the school at the time. Tyzik worked with Mangione between 1973 and 1980. During this time, Tyzik also began a long collaboration with Doc Severinsen. Tyzik recorded six albums as a solo trumpeter between 1981 and 1990, appearing on Capitol Records, Polydor Records (PolyGram), and Amherst Records. Tyzik is currently principal Pops conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic.

At age 16, Vizzutti won the concerto competition and was awarded first chair in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra at Interlochen, Michigan. He earned a B.M., M.M. and a Performer's Certificate, and the only Artist's Diploma ever awarded to a wind player from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Allen Vizzutti has performed with an array of artists and ensembles including Chick Corea, Doc Severinsen, The NBC Tonight Show Band, the Airmen of Note, the Army Blues, Chuck Mangione, Woody Herman, Japan's NHK Symphony Orchestra and the Kosei Wind Orchestra. Mike Vax is a product of the City of Oakland and the Oakland Public Schools, having graduated from Oakland High School in 1960. He has led a big band off and on since his days at College of the Pacific over 35 years ago. A few of his credits include being first trumpet, soloist and road manager of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, as well as being co-leader while Mr. Kenton was recovering from surgery; leading the Dukes of Dixieland in New Orleans; producing and/or music directing for over 25 jazz festivals; and performing workshops for more than 1000 high schools, colleges and universities all over the world.

Pete Candoli (1923–2008), born Walter Joseph Candoli, was an American swing and West Coast jazz trumpeter. He played with the big bands of Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, and many others, and worked extensively in the studios of the recording and television industries. Pete was inducted into The International Jazz Hall of Fame in 1997, uttering his popular catch phrase "CAZAM BEBOP". It was at this time that his good friend Jaroo shouted the phrase out loud as well. Look magazine named him one of the seven all-time outstanding jazz trumpet players --- the others being Louis Armstrong, Bix Biederbecke, Harry James, Bunny Berigan, Dizzy Gillespie and Bobby Hackett.
