New Baritones and Euphoniums |
Euphoniums are to baritones what cornets are to trumpets: a conical bore through the last two-thirds of the instrument's length, producing a warm, mellow, lyrical sound that blends well with other instruments and is especially appropriate for lyrical playing.
The baritone is to the euphonium what the trumpet is to the cornet: cylindrical tubing through two-thirds of the instrument's length resulting in a brighter, more penetrating sound especially appropriate for fanfares, high-range playing, and sustained forte dynamics. |

King Legend Soloist Euphonium
The King Legend Soloist euphonium has established a new standard for tonal excellence and evenness of scale-the chief attributes of any serious euphonium. It features 4 top-action piston valves with an upright 11" (279mm) bell, and a spring-loaded 3rd slide trigger for improved intonation. The duo-bore design (.580"/14.73mm in the first three valves and .600"/15.24mm in the fourth valve) and 11"/279mm seamless heavy yellow brass bell give it a uniquely lyrical sweetness in the upper register and a majestic resonance in the lower. It plays very freely in its high register and has quick, light valve action that is widely admired by euphonium players.

Holton Collegiate Euphonium
The Holton Collegiate euphonium is the same horn as a Weril H980: it is made for Holton by Weril. It is very close in design to a Yamaha 321, but the Holton has a large shank mouthpiece receiver that allows for the use of a greater selection of large mouthpiece sizes than is possible with the small shank on the Yamaha. Even though the bore size is the same on both instruments, the Holton sounds and plays much more like a compensating euphonium. It has excellent pitch, tone, and response throughout the range. The 11 inch bell gives it a focus that projects well with a full, clear tone. It is a very flexible horn and a delight to play! Although often listed as a student horn, it is a professional quality instrument. If you like the Yamaha 321, you’ll love the Holton Collegiate euphonium.
